
Built as a nuclear powered icebreaker under yard No 702 by Baltiyskiy Zavod, Leningrad for the Government of the Soviet Union (Ministry of Transport).
20 February 1981 keel laid down.
Launched as the ROSSIYA on of the Arktika class icebreakers.
Tonnage 20.680 grt, 2.752 dwt., dim. 150.0 x 30.0m.
Powered by two OK reactors, 52MW (69.733 hp) propulsion power, speed 20.6 knots.
Crew 138 to 200.
20 December 1985 completed. Homeport Murmansk.
The class is used in North Siberian waters and to keep year round navigation to some ports in North Russia possible. She can break trough ice with a thickness of 2 meter.
Lately also used for scientific and vacation expeditions to the Arctic.
The class was first managed by the Murmansk Shipping Company (MSCO), Murmansk.
2008 Still in service, IMO No 8424240, managed by Atomflot, Federal State Unitary Enterprise, Murmansk.
