A cargo vessel, the Galati (Galatz) was built at the Galatz shipyard in 1960. She was the third of a number of sister ships in this country's shipbuilding programme, six of which had been ordered by the U.S.S.R. for delivery by the end of 1965. The Galati is a vessel of 3,096 gross tons (2,086 net) and has dimensions 328 ft. 11 in. x 45 ft. 11 in. x 15 ft. 7 in. according to a Roumanian source (Lloyd's Register gives her length as 320 ft. and beam 45 ft 8 in.). She is of Roumanian design and model-tested in the tank at Vienna. Her speed is 18 knots.

1990 Sold by NAVROM Romania for scrapping to Oge Gemi Sokum Ticaret A.S. and resold to Gursoy Gemi Sokum Ticaret A.S. at Aliaga, Turkey.
26 November 1990 she arrived Aliaga in tow from Braila.
