The Principality of Monaco has added a third paddle steamer to its Postage Due stamps, Le Charles III of 1866. Twice a day, from 1866 to 1871-2 the Le Charles III plied between Nice and Monaco, the journey taking 45 minutes. She carried 100 passengers. This vessel of 100 tons had a length of 40 metres and was of 180 h.p. The stamp was issued 1960 and shows the vessel leaving Monaco for Nice.
