France's battleship, the Dunkerque is the vessel shown on the stamp of French Morocco issued in 1948. Completed in 1937, the Dunkerque has a displacement of 26,500 tons and a complement of 1,380. She is capable of a speed of 30 knots, and her armament consists of eight 13in, guns in widely spaced quadruple turrets forward, three sets of twin-turrets mounting 12 5.1 guns aft and four more 5.1 guns amidships. Four aircraft are carried and launched by means of a catapult on the quarter-deck.
