Built in 1984 for the America II Challence Syndicate, representing the New York Yacht Club. Designed by Sparkman & Stephens. D. 27,3 tons; 64,7' loa, 44.9' lwl x 11,9' , dr 8,6' ; sail area 1,513,8 sq.ft. She was nicknamed the “Lego” boat, having been designed to allow for interchangeable keels.

She sailed in the 1986 World 12-metre Championships at Fremantle, finishing third. She did not compete for the 1987 America’s Cup Challence.

America II has served as the Manhattan Sailing Club’s flagship since 2007. She has been refurnished for charter sailing tours. Now she has less mast and sail area when she was racing.
