Primitive craft of the Sudan stretches of the Nile. Ambatch tree stems – thus the name of the craft – which are pithy and bulbous ar lashed together to form a boat. A lg pole used for propelling the boat along shallow parets of the river was carried with a small thin like paddle, presumably to be used when the water was too deep for the pole.
