Built as a ferry under yard No 357 by the American Boveri Electric Company at Camden, New Jersey for the Electric Ferries Co., New York.
29 January 1927 launched as the FRANK E.GANNETT. Five sisters.
Tonnage 405 gross, dim. 44.4 x 11.3m.
Diesel electric powered, ?hp, speed?
Accommodation for 500 passengers and 50 cars.
February 1927 completed.

Built for the Hudson ferry service between Manhattan’s West 23 Street to Baldwin Avenue in Weehawken.
1931 Renamed by the company in NASSAU.
1942 Sold to Panama Canal Co., and renamed in PRESIDENTE PORRAS.
Used in the Panama Canal as a replacement when other ferries were under repair or maintenance.
When the cost for her maintaining and repair got to high she was sold to Chile.
1962 After sold renamed in ALONSO DE ERCILLA named after the Spanish nobleman, soldier and poet Alonso de Ercilla (1533-1594)
Used as a ferry between Pargua and Chacao, Chiloe Island, Chile.
1962 last traced, but most probably longer in use.
2001 A new ferry under that name came in service.
