DUPERRY, LOUIS Commander of the French Expedition in the vessel COQUILLE, who sailed from Toul¬on in August 1822 and visited Brazil, Falklands, rounded Cape Horn to Chile and Peru. Across to the Society Islands, visiting many minor islands before spending three weeks in Tahiti, in May of 1823. After Port Jackson they sailed through Santa Cruz, New Britain, New Ireland, Waigiu and the Moiuccas. Returned to Port Jackson by way of West Australia in January 1824. Remained until March then continued to New Zealand, Rotuma, Gilberts, Carolines and New Guinea. They did not arrive home until March 1825.
