Liberty ship built in 1945 as John Robert Gordon. 1945 Lease-lend to French Govt., 1947 renamed Saint Marcouf and transferred in 1950 to Messageries Maritime. Sold in 1960 and scrapped in 1963 at La Spezia.

Built as a Liberty vessel under yard No. 3113 by the New England Shipbuilding Corp., Portland, Me. for the War Shipping Administration, U.S.A.
29 March 1945 keel laid down.
22 May 1945 launched under the name JOHN ROBERT GORDON.
Tonnage 7.176 gross, 4.380 net, 10.865 dwt., dim. 134.6 x 17.24 x 11.39m., length bpp. 140.2m.
One 3-cyl inverted triple expansion oil engine , manufactured by General Machine Corp., Hamilton, Ohio, 2.500 hp., speed 11 knots.
Bunker capacity, 1.834 tons, consumption in 24 hours, 30 tons.
Cargo capacity 499.573 cubic feet bale, 562.608 cubic feet grain.
June 1945 completed.

After completing transferred on Lend Lease to the French Government ( Ministére de la Marine Marchande). Managed by Cie Générale Transatlantique, Paris.
December 1946 sold to the French Government, managed by CTG, renamed SAINT MARCOUF.
1950 Management was changed to Cie. des Messageries Maritimes, not renamed.

1954 Used to supply the Kerguelen Islands, made one voyage.

1960 Sold to International Nav. Corp., Liberia, renamed SPRINGWATER, managed by Wm H Muller & Co., London Ltd..
1961 Sold to Seacrest Shipping Corp., Lugano, Switzerland, renamed SEACREST, under Liberian flag and registry.

05 June 1963 on a voyage from Boston to Genoa loaded with scrap metal, she ran aground near Barcelona, Spain.
05 July 1963 refloated in seriously damaged condition and towed to Genoa, after she was discharged, declared CTL.
Was sold to an Italian shipbreakers, and scrapped at La Sepzia in October 1963.
