Built in 1956-'57 by N.V. Scheepswerf & Machinefabriek P. Smit Jr., Rotterdam, #618, for the Koninklijke Nederlandsche Stoomboot Maatschappij (KNSM) Amsterdam as PRINS DER NEDERLANDEN, launched 14-03-'57, delivery date 03-09-'57.
Passenger/cargo ship, Gt:7552, Nt:3955, Dw:4911, Loa:131,70m. Lbpp:125,40m. B:17,30m. Depth:9,22m. Draught:6,90m. 6 cyl. B&W/ P. Smit diesel:4500 hp. 15½ kn.

Service Netherlands - Caribbean Sea.
On 31-08-'66, during a trip from Amsterdam to Kingstown, at Flores (Azores) jammed and severely damaged, which inundated the engine room, the passengers were disembarked and the ship was towed to Fayal and temporairly repaired.
She arrived in Amsterdam in October and repaired, pass:85 in 1 class.
07-'72 she made her last trip for the KNSM and layd up, 01-'73 sold to Empresa de Navigación Mambisa and renamed HERÓICO, later VIETNAM HERÓICO.
On 01-10-'84 she capsized at the wharf in Havana and total-loss.
In '86 transferred to the Cuban Navy and ther were some repairs done, '91 under the name MAISI sold for scrap to India.
Sister ship ORANJE NASSAU, renamed XX ANIVERSARIO, also scrapped in India.
