Built as a steel sailing cargo vessel by Laxevags Maskin & Jerskipsbyggeri, Bergen, Norway for Jörgen C Knudsen, Porsgrunn, Norway.
Launched under the name SKOMVAER.
Tonnage 1.775 gross, 1.687 net, dim. 83 x 11.6 m. Draught 22.4ft.
Barque rigged.
Crew 23.
1890 Completed.
At that time she was the largest merchant sailing vessel, and the first built of steel under Norwegian register. Mostly used for tramping, to North America and Australia.
1899 and 1900 under command of Captain C. Rafu she made calls at ports in the USA.
1915 Sold to O.C. Axelsen at Flekkefjord, Norway.
1917 Sold to S.O.Stray & Co., Kristiansand, Norway.
02 June 1922 arrived at Melbourne, Australia, after a passage of 121 days from Falmouth, U.K.
After discharging of the cargo she was dry-docked on 01 July.
08 August 1922 sailed from Australia with on board 2.544 tons wheat, bound for Falmouth for orders.
After a passage of 120 days arrived she in her discharging port Cork on 06 December 1922.
After discharging repaired at Cork till 09 January 1923.
Then she sailed to Kristiansand and laid up.
1924 Sold to Stavanger, Norway for breaking up.
During her lifetime, she passed 31 times Cape Horn.
Her double spanker was unusual in Norwegian barques.
