SAN GENARO 1761

1761 Built as a two-decker on the Royal yard in Havana for the Spanish Navy.
Launched as SAN GENARO.
Tonnage 1763 tons, dim.?
Armament, 60 guns.

13 August 1762 captured by the British Navy.

05 March 1763 she arrived with a valuable cargo from Havana in the Downs, U.K.
When at anchor there during a strong gale her anchor cables parted and she was driven ashore near Ramsgate.
Her officers and crew all saved except two, one man drowned by trying to swim to shore, and the quartermaster was killed by a falling mast or spar.

She is not mentioned as a HMS ship, when sailing under British flag.
