Built as a passenger vessel by the Dresdner Machinefabrik & Schiffswerft Übigau/Dresden for the service on the Wörthersee, Austria.
1909 Launched as THALIA.
Displacement 131 ton, 91 ton dwt., dim. 39.35 x 6.30m.
One vertical 2-cyl.compound steam engine 150hp., one screw. Coal fired.
Accommodation for 400 passengers.
She is now one of few screw steamships of middle Europe, and Austria’s last operating screw steamer.
1913 Taken over by the Klagenfurt Town Council.
1925 Renamed in KLAGENFURT.
1939 Again renamed in THALIA.
Diesel engines were ordered for her in 1946 but never fitted in, instead her steam engine was overhauled, and a new oil-fired boiler was later installed.
1966 She got a wheelhouse.
In 1974 withdrawn due to a propeller shaft breakdown, and she lay rusting for a few years before her restoration from December 1986 till June 1988. Her engine was rebuilt at the SGV yard in Lucerne, Switzerland.
02 July 1988 she made her maiden voyage after her restoration on the Wörthersee.
Managed by Klagenfurter Stadswerke, Klagenfurt-See and she is the flagship of the company.
Used for regular service on the Wörthersee in the summer season between Klagenfurt and Velden, but can also be used for charter voyages on the lake.
