The MITUMBUI was used in Mozambique, as a double outrigger canoe and used for fishing in the Porto Amelia (Pemba) area.
Length 3.5 meter, beam and depth 0.4 meter.

Hewn from a single log; sharp raised raked ends; vertical sides; flat bottom.
Open 2 benches. Two straight booms cross the hull, lashed to the gunwales. Booms slot into small, vertical blocks which, in turn, peg into slender floats that curve up at the ends.
Mainly poled and paddled, but may set a lateen sail to a short mast stepped in the forward third. Sail hung outside the 2 shrouds.
