2010 Sold by Istanbul Deniz Otobusleri to Ihh Insan Hak Ve Hurriyetleri, Istanbul, not renamed, under Comoros flag and registry.

The ship was purchased in 2010 by a Turkish Islamic charity IHH (İnsani Yardım Vakfi), the Foundation for Human Rights and Freedom and Humanitarian Relief, which engages in social and humanitarian activities in more than 100 countries. It joined a flotilla of ships operated by activist groups from 37 different countries with the intention of directly confronting the Gaza blockade and bringing in humanitarian aid and supplies. The IHH acquired the ship at a cost of $800,000, to be defrayed by public donations, as no ship-owner was willing to risk their vessel on the journey.
22 May 2010 she left Antalya in Turkey bound for Gaza port
On 31 May 2010, while en route to Gaza, commandos from the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) raided and seized the MV MAVI MARMARA in international waters after communicating warnings that a naval blockade of the Gaza area was in force. In the violent clash that followed, nine activists were killed, and several dozen activists and at least seven IDF soldiers were injured. She was towed to Haifa and till today 23 June 2010 she is still alongside there, and belonging to what Israel believes a terrorist organization, it can be a long time before she is sailing again.

23 July 2010 the Israeli Government decided to release the MAVI MARMARA.
Under tow of the Turkish tug OCEAN ERGÜN she left Ashdod and arrived 07 August 2010 in Iskenderun, Turkey.
