Built as a cargo vessel by Gheorghiu Dej, Shipyard at Budapest for the MHRT.
10 November 1960 launched as TIHANY
Tonnage 1.207 gross, 567 net, 1.224 dwt., dim. 81.87 x 10.62 x 3.10m.
Powered by two 8 cyl.diesel engines. Twin screws.
Used for the service between Budapest and the Eastern Mediterranean and Red sea ports.
1974 Sold to Cia Irsk, Panama, renamed in NINGPO ROSE.
1975 Sold to Realtor Line, Singapore, renamed REALTOR.
1977 Sold to M & B Group Lines, Panama, renamed AMBEE STAR.
She sailed on 10 August 1979 from Kuwait, with destination Karachi, loaded with a cargo of 980 tonnes of loose steel scrap and 200 tonnes of aluminum. She sprang a leak in her engine room six days after sailing.
The maser decided to beach her off the Gulf of Oman coast of Iran east of Jask in Lat. 25 27N. Long. 58 56E. She was hard aground, and all efforts to refloat the beached vessel by salvors were in vain. With her engine room still flooded and seas breaking over the aft end, she was abandoned by her crew on 4 September, having been declared a constructive total loss.
