Built as a cargo vessel under yard No 85 by Frederikstad Mek. At Fredrikstad, Norway for the A/S Fido (Beech & Olsen) Tvedestrand, Norway.
15 February 1904 launched under the name FIDO.
Tonnage 1.433 gross, 1.329 net, 890dwt., dim. 231.4 x 35.1 x 20.9ft, draught 13.7ft.
Powered by a triple expansion steam engine ?hp, speed 14 knots.
March 1904 delivered to owners.

27 June 1907 she loaded the first phosphate on Nauru Island. Loading was going very slowly, due to the tension between the British and German staff of the phosphate company on the island, and bad moorings.
Sailed on 06 July with on board 1.974 tons of phosphate and three bags of mail, under command of Captain Larsen and a crew of 21 men, bound for Sydney, Australia.
The first phosphate cargo never arrived in the discharging port.
19 July 1907 she grounded on a reef off Cool Island about one mile of Fingal Lighthouse near Newcastle N.S.W, Australia and was lost.
The only casualty was the ships dog.
