Post by aukepalmhof » Wed Nov 18, 2009 8:09 pm

North Korea is one of the countries were shipping information is very scare or unreliable, but I will give what I have found from different sources. All additional information welcome.

MANGYOUNGBONG is also given on a stamp issued in 2004 for the 45th Anniversary of Repatriation of Korean Nationals from Japan.

MANGYONGBONG also given as MANG YOUNG BONG on 2ch. sg N1718.

Built in 1972 on the yard of Chonglin Ship Yard, Huichon, North Korea as a passenger vessel, for the North Korea Government.
Tonnage 5 000 gross, 1.700 dwt. Dim. 100 x 10.1m.
Accommodation for 300 passengers
One engine.

1976 Deleted from Lloyds Register, but she was still sailing (or laid up) at that time, Lloyds Shipping Index of Wednesday 11 October has the following entry:
13 Sept. 1989 sailed from Niigata, Japan to Wonsan. Her tonnage is given then as 3.574 gross, 2.082 net, 1.727 dwt.
2003 http://www.equasis.org Did not mention her more under that name.

North Korea 1978 2ch sgN1718. 2004 12ch sg?
