BOYACA transport

In 2009 Columbia issued one stamp for the “75th Anniversary of Naval School for Non-Commissioned Officers “ARC Barranquilla”.

The ship on the left side of the stamp is the BOYACA, on the right side is the patrol boat QUITASUENO (112)

Built as a cargo vessel under yard No 166 by the Toledo Shipbuilding Co., Toledo, Ohio for the U.S. Shipping Board, New York.
15 December 1919 launched as the LAKE FILLMORE.
Tonnage 2,560 grt, 1,586 net, 2,203 dwt., dim. 76.5 x 13.3m.
Powered by a 3-cyl. triple expansion steam engine, 315 nhp, one propeller, speed 9¼ knots.
May 1920 delivered.

1922 Renamed in BRIDGETOWN.
1923 Transferred to the Columbian Steamship Co. Inc., New York, not renamed.
1933 Sold to the Columbian Navy as a transport, renamed BOYACA.
1942 Sold to Wallem & Co., Panama, not renamed.
December 1941 seized in Shaghai by the Japanese forces.
1941 Renamed OTORI MARU and owned by the Japanese Government.

07 December 1943 wrecked at Chinnampo, Korea.

The submarine USS ANGLER torpedoed and sank on 20 May 1944 probably the Japanese transport OTORI MARU in position 05 57N 105 12E, when she is the same vessel she must have been salvaged after her loss in Chinnampo.
