Cable Venture (cable ship)

C.S. CABLE VENTURE was yard number 532 and was built by Lubecker Flender-Werke AG at Lubeck-Siems in 1962 for the West German Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke which put her into use at NEPTUN. She was the third ship with this name for this company.
In December 1975 she was purchased by Cable & Wireless and renamed in her present name on 18th April 1977. In the meantime she was totally rebuilt by Humber Graving Dock & Engineering Company at Immingham.
In August 1977 she was commissioned again. Now she has 4 cable tanks for 2400 nautical miles seacable of 1". Further on she has been provided with 4 MAN diesels of 5960 hp, which drive 2 generators connected to 4 electro motors and 2 screws. She also has 2 bow thrusters. Her crew consists of 118 men and 20 cable technicians.

Her speed is 12.5 knots.
