DISCOVERER 534 drilling ship

Built as a self propelling oil drilling ship under yard No f395 by Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Ltd., Osaka Japan for Transocean, Panama.
01 January 1974 keel laid down.
Launched as the DISCOVERER 534.
Tonnage 17,284 grt, 5,185, 7,403 dwt., dim. 162.67 x 24.38 x 9.75m., length bpp 14814m.
Two diesel engines 16.000 hp., twin shafts, speed 14 knots. Six thrusters 2.500 hp each.
Bunker capacity 3,145 cub meter fuel.
Accommodation for 128 persons.
Heliport aft.
Four cranes, two of 35 tons and two of 60 tons.
She can operate by waves of 7.62 meter and a wind speed of 50 knots.
To keep her in position she is fitted out with dynamic position holding abilities.
She can operate in a water depth of 2,134 meter, and can drill to a depth of 7,925 meter.
01 August 1975 delivered.

She was used off the coast of Ivory Coast, but mostly used in the Gulf of Mexico.
December 2009 the latest I got from the internet that she is heading for India from the Gulf of Mexico.
On arrival in India she will be used there for drilling operations from April next year.

2009 As given by http://www.equasis.org Owned by Transocean Discoverer 534, and managed by Transocean Offshore Deepwater both in Houston, Texas. IMO No 7403469. Under Panama flag.
01 September 2012 renamed HELEX 534 and under Bahamas flag.
2013 Sold to Helix Offshore International, Houston, not renamed, Bahamas flag and registry.
2016 Same name and owner and in service.

2016 Sold to Priyanka Shipping Ltd., Basseterre, St Kitts & Nevis, renamed HELI.

09 May 2017 arrived Alang for scrapping, work commenced on 12 May 2017 by Bharat Shipbreakers Corp.



Stanley Gibbons gives her as ASTRAGALE but that is a complete other ship.
