ROTOITI HMNZS

Laid down at Henry Robb 31 December 1943
Launched 21 August 1944. Completed 29 December 1944.
Length 307ft 6in, Beam 38ft 8in.
Draught 12ft. mean.
Displacement d.1.435 tons. 2.26( tons full loa 6in. Armament One 4in gun. Four 2pdr. six anti-aircraft. Two Squid triple barrelled mortars. Machinery Two Admiralty 3-drum boilers vertical reciprocating 4-cylinder triple expansion. Two shafts 5.500ihp. Speed 19.5 knots.
Crewed by 114 officers and men.
Entered NZ Service 7 July 1949. sold for scrap and broken up in Hong Kong September 1966.
HMNZS ROTOITI served two tours of duty in the Korean War. These duties included convoy escort,harbour patrol, shore bombardment and landings. On her first tour ROTOITI steamed 51.000 miles in 11 months and on her second tour 58.000 miles in 14 months and fired 13,400 rounds.
