Remarks: 770–773 were based at Hong Kong as of July 1997. Design offered for export, as Type EM3D(H), with OTO Melara 76-mm Compact in place of the twin 37-mm mount, optronic gun directors, and decoy rocket launchers. Production for PLAN had been thought to have ended in
1998, but 776 was photographed during 2000, modified with Russian guns and gun fire-control equipment.
Combat systems: First six have Type 88C weapons control system. There is an unmanned electro-optical director for the 30-mm AA, and a radar director with separate optronic director for the enclosed-model 37-mm AA. The missiles are mounted one-over-two. The seventh unit, 776, has an imported Russian 76.2-mm gunmount and radar fire-control system, either for trials or as the start of a new construction series with more formidable defensive armament. Recent photographs have shown all six SSM canister positions occupied.
