The vessel depict on this stamp is given by Watercraft Philately as the LYSLAND, and she was the first Allied merchant vessel to carry food and supplies directly from London to Antwerp on 26 November 1944 after the River Schelde was again opened for Allied shipping during the war.

Built as a cargo vessel under yard No 136 by Blyth Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., Leith, U.K. for the Furness, Whity & Co. Ltd., West Hartlepool.
Launched as the RYHOPE.
Tonnage 1,334 grt. 727 net. Dim. 71.54 x 10.52 x 4.57m.
Powered by one 3-cyl. triple expansion steam engine manufactured by Richardsons, Westgarth, 179 nhp., one shaft speed 9 knots.
August 1907 completed.

1925 Sold to D/S A/S Kistransport (Thv. Halvorsen), Bergen, Norway renamed LYSLAND.
1927 Transferred to Halvorsen Shipping Co A/S.

A few days before the German invasion in Norway was she underway from Finneid to Holland and was stopped at Hustadvika in the morning of 08 April 1940 by a British warship informing them that the waters had been mined. She proceeded to Kristiansund, Norway, where the captain got the position of the minefield. 09 April she left port with destination Holland.
When the captain received the news of the invasion of Norway he went to Molde, after a few air attacks and moving around the coast of Norway, the captain decided to sail for Scotland.

During World War owned by Nortraships flåte managed by J&C Harrison Ltd., London

After the war returned to owners.
1951 Sold to R. Januzzi & G. Ursino, Naples, Italy, renamed in VOMERO.
1954 Sold to Giuseppe Ursino fu Francesco, Naples, not renamed.
1957 Sold to Lorenzo di Medici, Naples, not renamed.
08 January 1960 arrived at La Spezia for scrapping.
