RAINBOW WARRIOR (II)

Built as a trawler under yard No 1422 by Cochrane& Sons, Selby, U.K. for Derwent Trawlers, Grimsby.
18 February 1957 launched as KASHMIR.
Tonnage 448 grt, net 154, dim.44.95 x 8.53 x 4.32m. (draught).
Powered by a steamengine of ?hp, speed?

January 1959 registered for Ross Trawlers at Grimsby.
October 1959 registered for Yorkshire Trawlers, Grimsby.
April 1962 Registered to George Frederick Sleight, Grimsby and renamed ROSS KASHMIR.
1966 Lengthened to 55.2m.
October 1967 registered for Ross Trawlers, Grimsby.
December 1967 sailed from Grimsby to fish out from Newfoundland, returned 1968 again in Grimsby with fishing No. GY 122.
In 1967 her original steam engine was removed and replaced by a diesel engine.
1968 Registered to British United Trawlers, Grimsby.
1981 Converted to a standby safety and pollution vessel.
1982 Transferred to Aberdeen, managed or owned by Craig & Sons, renamed GRAMPIAN FAME.
1987 Sold to Greenpeace Association, Hamburg.

She was fitted out in Hamburg to a three mast fore-and-aft schooner rigged vessel, new diesel engines placed.
10 July 1989 relaunched and renamed RAINBOW WARRIOR (II).
Tonnage 555 gt, dim. 55.20 x 8.54 x 4.6m. (draught)
Two 6-cyl. Deutz MWM diesel engines each 500 hp., speed 13 knots maximum.
Sail area 650 square meter.
Accommodation for 30 persons.
Registered under Dutch flag with homeport Amsterdam.

She took part in the protest against the new French atomic bomb
test in the Moruroa Atoll in 1995, where she was rammed by a French
tug and French commando’s stormed the RAINBOW WARRIOR.

2010 She is still in service by Greenpeace but will soon be replaced
by a new vessel, also named RAINBOW WARRIOR.

Bosnia and Herzegovina 1997

16 August 2011 handed over to Help-organization Friendship at Singapore and renamed RONGDHONU, which mean rainbow in the Bangladesh language.
By the Friendship organization she will be used as a floating hospital in Bangladesh and used to bring health care to one of the most vulnerable and marginalized population of the world.

September 2018 out of service and sold to PHP Family Yard, Chattogram, Bangladesh for scrapping.
